Hello Everyone, We have been out of contact over here for a while so I just wanted to make a post telling people what we are planning for the game.
Again as always we feel the biggest problem with the game is lack of users. So far we have basically tried to bootstrap it. Hoping minimal advertising and word of mouth would be enough to draw people to the game but clearly it isn't working.
We are currently trying to raise enough money to do a full advertising campaign that will be designed to get enough users to make the game profitable.
Beyond that we are also going to spend more effort on easing the transition from visitor to active user. As many have pointed out the far wilds can be very confusing and demoralizing for people just learning the game. There have been lots of good suggestions here in the forums that we'll be implementing in the coming weeks.
Also along with the advertising push we will be announcing another Grand Clash.
Thanks, Jed.

Jed, these are great news indeed!
May I suggest a few things:
(1) I personally think that the game needs a complete overhaul, ranging from the way the interface is designed to the way the forum operates. I therefore also think that this is not the time for half-measures. If we are now about to reach the 'fourth phase' of the game (after Alpa/Beta, release of original set of cards and then Borderlands), I think new changes should really take the game, and everything surrounding it, to a higher and better level. Just changing the way that new users experience the game is certainly a good thing, but I don't think it is the only thing that needs to be changed. This somewhat brings me to my second point.
(2) I would like to see a sub-section here on the forum where you (the developers) outline proposed plans and implementations. This would allow users to discuss upcoming changes before they are actually implemented so as to, hopefully, make said changes better. It would also make for a more transparent and communal effort to put this game into a better state than it currently is in now. Maybe there could be sub-sections for things like: Interface/Design, Gameplay, Forum, Marketing (and the list could go on).
(3) I think it would be a great thing if certain players were 'promoted' to mods both in-game and on the forum. I am thinking of CaveTroll in particular (although I have not spoken to him about this) but there are others as well. I am thinking of people with a proven track record of showing that they care for what is best for the game rather than what is best for their decks/style of playing/amount of cards they own etc. I believe that this would show new users that it is actually possible to be a more integral part of the game than just a casual player. More importantly, I also believe that mods/community liaisons of this kind, once they are given a proper role to play, will be able to deal with many issues that the influx of new players no doubt will have both in-game and on the forum.
I haven't been active on the forum for quite some time now since I felt that nothing constructive came out of it anyway. I really hope that things will change now so that the game can finally get what it deserves!
Jed, I wish you all the best of luck!

I cant wait to see a new and improved Far Wilds. Though i like this game alot it is rather stagnant.....it seems to have come to a hault... I think an advertising campaign is such a great idea and hopefully it will be what we need to draw in more Permanent players who gain enjoyment out of the game....Also i would like to say.....You mentioned that the transition from rookie to veteran can be a rather tought battle at times. I agree. And u used the word demoralizing.....Now many people have mentioned a Campaign Mode OR a Story Mode. The game needs something That actually adds enjoyment to the game rather than just the challenge of taking on the pros. Cause we all know that the pros can stick it to you good. And really Where is the fun in getting slaughtered....there is none......And even for some of us who have been around a lil while and those who have been around longer would love some added fun in the game....Im very happy to see this post as i know maybe things will now be making a change. Best of Luck to all the farwilds community. Lets see what we can do with this game

It looks like jed finally listens to us once more. *claps hands* We appreciate it. Alright, as for the "next stage" of TFW, what's that going to include? (It better have a story mode or I am going to be pissed )

Bumping this in order to get some kind of information about what's going on. Jed, can you give us a status report, please?
[EDIT] And, if so, can that status report go on the homepage? No news for a loooong time on there...

Well raising money doesn't happen that quickly so we are still a few months away from the advertising push. In the meantime I'm sure you have seen that the scripting system is getting developed. There are some pretty cool things done with it already. We are recreating the tutorial now. Once that is done we will start working on a longer campaign. Hopefully some users out there will come up with their own campaigns also.

Jed you could add a *donate* button like in other games. I think for the sites that already have the game we just need to bump its rating like on newgrounds whenever I vote for flash games or play for medals I vote for TFW to raise its rating so other folks who check games by their ratings would find it.
