Yes, there was few competitive decks. Mostly based on snooping goblins. Here's combo for you: Three Snooping Goblins in enemy controlled territory (Morph and Camouflage helps to make that true), Bell of Dorn and Flux Capacitor in play. Steal three cards -> Discard all three with Flux Capacitor -> use Bell of Dorn -> Steal three cards -> ... opponent loose his deck. |

jed beat me with this kind of deck once. Another good card to use is Astridian Forum, to prevent extra cards from things like Decomposition and Nefarious Research going into the player's hand. |

If that's the same army I recall from jed, it used the cards it grabbed to feed to Mortar Teams. It wasn't really a mill strategy. Altren wrote: I seen this in constructed Ah... the good old days when people actually played constructed. R.I.P. constructed August, 2010. |

Someone posted the reason, can't really remember who. Anyway, people construct decks to win matches. After winning matches, they gain currency. With their currency, they buy more product. With their additional product, they construct more decks... to win more matches!!! Yeah, it's a senseless cycle, but that's how TCG's operate. There's also the casual gamers who don't really collect and make do with a small collection and play... casual games? However, these aren't the main source of revenue. Now, the "gain currency" portion of the cycle has been removed... the entire cycle collapses. People don't construct decks to win matches (only to beat kingdoms). People don't buy more product (doesn't make much sense anymore). People don't construct more decks (there's nothing to win). It could be debated that phantoms are the rewards, however, their lifespan is too short to build a good deck around it and the manner of gaining these is way too slow. Want to build an Awaken the Stones deck out of phantoms? Good luck getting lucky enough to nail three Awakens within 20 days. When you're the luckiest person on the planet and do get those... the first will probably expire in a few hours, anyway. So... phantoms don't count and are entirely unreliable for competition. Sure, you may beat my decks with your phantom pool... for 20 days max, then I'll pwn you again! Enjoy it while it lasts. People are generally not fans of phantoms unless they're hard-core farmers. So, we've got a game with a 2-tier reward system, Phantoms and Acorns. Both rewards have their fair share of detractors. We don't have a player base that can afford that. I hope something gets done, and fast... |
