So, what can we expect from TFW in the new year? Would be interesting to know if there is hope for an active year :)

Not as far as I can see.

I know it's been around many times .. but something needs to be done. It's on the way right to hell once again.
There's been a lot written - constructive ideas by people like Voices.. why is it always that whoever is in charge just doesn't listen? :/ Maybe we need a new cap'n yet afresh?

Or are you Altren really happy with the way the game is now? Because apparently you'll be pretty soon left alone with all your happiness.
After you taking over I got quite a lot people back with promises of new tomorrows but we're where we were before jed gave up; at that point I think he did the right thing. Maybe it's time to step up and do what's right too?

Me personally, I found it so hard to quit Wilds, that's why I came back after all, but guys like Voices, Themist, corey or queeshai -the last few mohicans recently still playing and mostly quitting now - are right, as it is, there is not much point going on and even though TFW is one of the best games out there, it's not the only one..

Something definitely needs to be done!

What happened to the Brass leagues for example? I asked Altren to run a Brass, it was succesful.... then there was no more.

I'm starting to find less and less reasons to come back to this game. Which is unfortunate, because I find the game really enjoyable. But it definitely needs something new. Or atleast more people open to some of the fun but less played formats.

I think a lot of fun could be had, playing 2 vs 2 and highlander. But I also think there are certain cards that we need to limit/not allow in certain formats.

I think there was too much emphasis placed on getting new players, with the scenarios etc. More needs to be done to keep the dedicated/quality players that are already here. New players are nice, but without regular players the game is no fun.

Hey Guys,
Good to see you still care enough to start and comment on a post. It is sad to see things floundering and the only reason I haven't been around is that there's just no games to be had.

In my opinion to make a comeback this game must (and I mean must) make cards more available to new players. The market is just stupid, people are trying to become gold millioinaires while there is no one to buy them. Then you do get a new player to check out the game and they realize that they could never afford the cards they would want.

So here's my suggestion, make cards available to new players, get them interested. Its not like you're making any money as it is right now. Build a new player base and then try to figure out to make it profitable. If the vets can't beat a noob at this point then it just goes to prove that there is no skill in the game and its just the cards you bought. I would rather play 100 games a week and lose some than play 7 games a week.

I would like to see this game try to make a come back and would come rushing back if it did. I would also like to see a response to this thread, even if it is to say 'Nah guys, its just not working, its time for everyone to move on.' I do hope that never happens though because I've had a lot of fun times on this game.

Themist

Well, before last post I seen no reason to reply, since there is nothing new in "but something needs to be done" comments and they are quiet obvious.

I always read all forum posts and listen to players in game, saving good ideas in task tracker or in some document, but it is not about new ideas now, is it about my and my friends free time, that makes game going. And yes, we are not working enough on this game, but we are still trying and I'm sure, that we'll make this game better.

What about making cards more available - could you try to say how this should be done? There's only one thing, that I'm afraid of - that new players won't be able to actually get this new cards. Or old players will have this cards and will beat newbies even worse.
And by the way - market prices are formed by other players. In most cases new player should buy packs, not particular cards.

Also from what I see now players still leave this game due to complexity and rough start, that we are trying to fix with campaigns. I'd agree that next stage is getting cards, but it needs to be done after players learned how to play.

As you well know from my posts in the past, I have tried to come up with constructive criticism and ideas regarding almost every aspect of this wonderful game. I think jed had a real opportunity at one time to make it succesful but somehow managed to not 'make' it at that time. I still think there is hope for the game as such (since I believe there is sooooo much potential to develop almost everything in the game), but I also think that what is needed now is money. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it), Altren does not seem to be hooked up with Putin or any other high-rolling Russians, so I don't think he will be given a couple of oil fields in the near future...

But there might be one idea worth pursuing in relation to Themist's post above. In the Borderlands Beta, we had access to all cards without actually owning them. Maybe there is some way in which, for a limited time, something akin to that Beta can be implemented now? Not sure how it would actually work, but perhaps other people have some ideas here :)

I think that's a great idea, Voices. Seems to me what's needed is to attract dozens or more new players to the site at the same time, create a critical mass, and build from there. For that kick start period, I think that having access to all cards could be very helpful. Make it temporary. Once people are hooked, they will pay.

I think that the site is ready for prime time now. Maybe a few more tweaks like wiping away the dead guilds and maybe just getting rid of the guilds altogether, and integrating the ladder into the acorn system. But nothing is holding the site back from getting new players except a lack of momentum.

The key is to get hundreds or even thousands of new people through the site within a few days of each other. What we need is a concerted advertising campaign. I can put up $25 to help make that happen.

We also need vets on hand to answer questions during that period, to improve retention. Ideally, we should work in shifts, with some way for noobs to know who to ask questions to. Maybe something as simple as the vet on shift just saying high to each person who enters the lobby.
