If somebody doesn't play any games, does there ranking go down at all? I'm just wondering if there is any mechanism to clear the leader board for people who "drop out" or stop playing games for a bit... Otherwise, it seems like it might cause board inflation where high ranks get up there but aren't active anymore... (Not that I'm about to get on there myself... more just wondering... I haven't seen some of the people on the online in a long time, if ever...) |

I agree with you. And I have simple solution that won't hurt anyone if he'll return. Just increase experience number (in braces after rating), so if you still playing you won't see any changes of your rating and if you don't then you rating would be going down slowly, but if you returned after long time not playing you can play several games and you'll have same rating as if there wasn't any ranking attrition. |

The ranking system doesn't change the main rank you're at over time. What changes is the uncertainty ranking. The longer you don't play, the larger the uncertainty of your solid ranking is. As the Ranking page in the Wiki says: "The leader board listed on the site is just Rank-Uncertainty." So eventually people that don't play will drop off. |
