I wonder if the developers introduced any rules concerning misconduct. I understand some behaviours should be common sense, that losing is part of the game, and that we are here to enjoy it (I do, a lot) but it's clear not all of us agree.

One minute ago I won a minor clash tournament. In the final match against CapAp, he decided, when it was clear he didn't have chances to win, to leave the window open and leave.
This is what he said:
[CapAp] you like slow boringdecks, i'll let you win in a slowboring way.
[CapAp] have fun.

Only after I posted what he said in the lobby (with almost no one around actually) he finally came back to resign.

I'm not concerned about my particular case, more in general I wonder whether or not a certain level of moderation has been considered regarding misbehaviours.

Jerk like as something like that can be. I dont think it really breaks any rules. And the game has methods (although bypass able) to save you time. If he were inactive for more then 5 min it can forfeit him.

I also might add thats its generally considered rude to call someone out like that on a forum. Its considered by some blacklisting. The main problem with it is he is not here to defend himself and even if he were it would probably turn into an argument. The forums are not for arguments. None of us were there so were really just taking your word for what happen and often there can be more at play in a situation then one players side of the story.

IMO, The best course of action to take in situations like this it to try and contact a game moderator. Either waiting for the next one on line or write a email or pm to them. Ask them there opinion on the situation and whether or not they think disciple may be required.

More often then not someone is just a little upset or having a bad day which cause them to do something mean or rude. That doesnt necessarily excuse it but. But us lending our understanding can avoid making something thats not really a big deal into something that is.

And I add, the forum is a good place to discuss what is and is not acceptable game conduct just avoid using names.

Im just sharing general rules ive picked up from my experience on other forums.[/i]

A common complaint seems to be that some players intentionally let their clock run down just to annoy the other player.

One suggestion I've made before (and will continue to make), is that there be some sort of glory penalty if this happens repeatedly. Have the first time the clock expires with no action be a warning. The second time award 1 glory for the opponent, the third time 2 glory, the fourth 3 glory, and so on. At any time if the "idle" player takes an action, this should get reset. This would make those "annoying" games end faster, and hopefully not overly penalize the connection challenged.

On a side note, I'd agree while some alleged behavior might not be the nicest, I'd hardly call it misconduct worthy of any sort of punishment. Any time you've got a wide mix of players, you'll get some whose personalities don't mesh, some who don't realize how objectionable their actions might be, and some who are just plain jerks. It's a part of online gaming and a part of the real world.

The worst that happens in cases like this is that you get yourself into a winning position, leave the window up, and go do something else and wait for the win. sure it's annoying and immature when someone does this, but you can hardly complain about being handed a win.

besides, I don't really see a way to separate the cases when this happens intentionally and non-intentionally.

I admit I agree with Agroagro when he says I shouldn't have mentioned in my post the name of someone who can't defend himself. I was quite annoyed at the moment and I apologise for that.

Still my question was really meant to be more general: is there no moderation whatsoever in TFW? No rule about it? Since I joined (only a couple of months ago) I saw more than one time guys insulting themselves in the lobby or doing something just to annoy the other (definitely not by mistake). I really can't see having had a bad day being a valid justification.

I'm not calling for harsh actions, I'm a guest here and I'm going to accept any previously agreed rule, I just wonder whether I should do something (inform a dev or whatever) if someone acts obnoxiously on purpose (or... if his personality doesn't mesh with mine :P) or if everything is allowed. And which are the cases, of course.

I can complain, it's out of question, as the win wasn't handed but delayed on purpose. I couldn't really leave as he could have come back at any time, starting playing again. And, to make things more annoying, was the fact I had to leave... and I couldn't. So, if I decide to remain to play into a tournament it's ok, i chose it, if I'm forced to stay because of a what happened... well, it isn't nice. Not a big deal, I agree, just annoying enough to push me to ask whether or not this has, in general, any consequence.

Yes, big problem. Same cases are clear, though.

CapAp treats everyone like crap, not just you. First I've heard of him doing this, though; that said, it doesn't surprise me.

I've been wanting to bring this up with Jed for a while now. I've seen a lot of crap in the lob by and I'm thinking we may be big enough now that it may be time for a moderator\team. Jed had done the job wonderfully but he is only one guy and can't logically be here all the time. It may be time for him to find someone [or two] on an opposite schedule to keep an eye on things while he's away.

That or let us baleet or ignore people in the lobby when we are tired of their spam/flames/trolls/etc.

Well we hope to recruit some mods fairly soon. But in the meantime the best thing to do is just use ignore.

You can already ignore people in the lobby (assuming you're on the client). I don't know about the browser version.
