amateur clash

What about a tournament (amateur clash) where only common cards are allowed. Would be fun for new players.

I like the idea, similar to how Magic has pauper. It would be easier to buy a competitive deck, and common cards generally have simpler strategies so easier for new players.

A downside is it might lead to prices of the good common cards rising, so its harder to buy them for regular decks.
