You are allowed to change your vote. Not much to be said, but TFW needs feedback. |

I think the gold scheme sucks. I should be able to do free draft with BL cards. period. prizes should be gold. period. it magic the gathering, you win 6 boosters in a tourney. it should be the same here. basically the game is too greedy and gives you a really limited experience if you don't get gold. the only reason power exists is because they want players to buy gold. but if you want the game to have more than 12 players, you're going to need to make a product that lets you do more before you have to throw money into it. |

Er, about MTG and 6 booster. Isn't this cost money to join such tourneys first? (see Keep Cards Drafts, Domain) |

Both of those formats don't require you to have your own cards. Right now, there's no incentive to having your own cards outside of Acorns. So, why even spend that gold to play those? There are other, better forms of temporary entertainment you can get for less than $10-$20 required for KC and Domain. Going for Krakhoars is a perfect example... |

An MTG draft like that costs $16 dollars. Each of 8 players buys 4 packs, opens 3, leaving 8 total packs in the prize pool. The total cost to play is 8x16=$128. The total prize payout = 10x$4 = $40. In a TFW Keep Cards, the cost to join is 500 gold (approx $10). The total cost to play = 4 players x $10 = $40. The prize pool is almost 700 gold, or $14 dollars. MTG drafts payout a prize pool less than 1/4 of entry costs. TFW pays out more than 1/4. In MTG, the player buys 4 packs, but only keeps 3 of them. The other goes into the prize pool. The entire prize pool is supported by the players buying that extra pack. In TFW, the player buys 3 packs and pays an extra 50 gold, putting 200 gold in the prize pool. TFW adds the other almost 500 gold to the prize pool. The prize pool is mostly supported by TFW generosity. |

I think that the free sealed and the free draft tournaments are really great. They allow noobs with no money invested to play on an even footing against others, which will encourage us to get involved in the game. I think that the EC tournaments are a good idea too. They dangle this carrot in front of noobs. Saying hey, it's possible to work your way up in this game without spending any money at all. That's enough to get a lot of people playing. That's how you build up your player base, and eventually those people will spend some money. The phantom cards add the perfect element to that equation. They give people who haven't spent any money a realistic opportunity to place in some EC tournaments if they're lucky with some phantom cards. But there is a broken scripting technique that will give you phantom cards nearly free, and that's not cool. Takes away the incentive to play against others at your level in order to get phantom cards. I'll be honest. I still haven't taken the time to figure out what the hell acorns do. I've stopped playing EC tournaments since acorns came on the scene, and my interest has continued to lag since then. My impression is that the link between winning the EC tournaments and getting cards is much more tenuous since acorns. |
