Possession - DDD1 | Common
Enchantment
Enchant Creature.
You control enchanted Creature until the end of round

I'm going to make the case here that Possession is under-cost for its abilities. You not only can take control of your opponent's creature, but if you're playing DL (and the 3 domain cost is pretty indicative you are) you have access to at least three sacrifice creature abilities: Alter of Ix, Crypt Dr, and Nefarious Research. Two of the three don't have vision restrictions and the one that does usually has a planar rift right next to it which negates any restriction. In essence, unless you're a really bad deckbuilder you also get to destroy the creature you possess and get some large benefit from it after you take them on a destructive rampage. All this for one flux with no good way to counter (you often don't even see the creature anymore since you don't get its vision). Sure it's 3 domain, but the benefits are totally out of whack with the costs. It should be noted that with Alter, this actually gives you 1 flux after it's done.

The solution I would propose is having the target un-sacrificeable. You can still do major damage and port him over water or somewhere bad. But getting a lysis, damage, and your pick of three benefits for one flux is too much.

The best solution is to have different enchantment counters available for the different domains

But the possession/sacrifice combo is what makes DL. For starters, you need to possess something that's undimmed or the murdering rampage option is out. And since the strategy almost always seems to be attack-with-your-most-powerful-creature-first, it isn't always available.

Nefarious Research costs more flux. At this point, we're reaching lyssis levels of casting.

You forgot the one which pisses me off the most! The "Possess a creature right next to my base and immediately cast Claimed for Blood" combo is the one that makes me want to reach through my laptop and choke grug.

The cost to cast Nefarious Research is meant to offset the benefit of the card's results. Arguing that it costs flux to cast it to kill a creature that isn't yours which is part of the cost to reap the benefit of the card doesn't really help your argument. It's really a dual benefit.

In this vein you could say that Possessed creatures should not be able to be sacrificed and that would solve most of the issues you've brought up.

I like possession as-is. The PITA part about it? Its a 3 domain card. More than balances it being cheap
