I seem to be a little disgruntled with the last few games I played, so it's tough to remain objective --

but it seems to me that cards that take control over surrounding spaces shouldn't take away control of occupied spaces.

The obvious situation is the first race to the middle flux well, if one player manages to complete a building ON TOP of the flux well, the enemy shouldn't be able to place a building next to it and it becomes a nuetraly controlled space.

The exact situation i ran into was living monument on a creature next to my first base and it took the control of it away from me. I build right on top of my flux wells now thanks to Sunyaku and his silly totem pole card -- There should be a point to building on top rather than next to.

Anyways, that's just my thought.

Well Arc the control thingy is a necessary game mechanic, without which it would boil down to who drops the buildings first.

In a related idea, i always wondered why 0sight buildings dont control the space theyre in. Somehow it just sounds nice that an ord stone is built on top of the flux well...

hmmm....
Fluxolith (as in monolith)
3X (any domain)
Building
Spawn on Flux Well
Controls its own space.
Spaces controlled by Fluxolith cannot be controlled by another player.

But isn't that a little unecissary to have that tug of war over a spot that you already have a building on? It's about choosing to build on a flux well vs. building next to it. The building still takes it's build tokens to complete, and instant build within your already controled spaces still makes sense.

And with the 0 sight buildings, yes, it's all apart of this discussion, why wouldnt a building on top of a single spot not control that spot? Unless we're talking about the KISS method, in which case, smaller or weaker buildings don't really control the space they occupy -- that accounts for the 0 sight effect that's currently in place, but it still doesnt answer why a building that has control over it's own spot, can be taken away by an adjacent buildings control. If there were different degrees of control, maybe that could explain it, but as of right now, it's just a simple matter of overlapping.

Im going to chime in on this topic because i think living monument is to powerful. Mainly that it can create the most dominating buildings. more powerful then real buildings. Besides that not making sense. it creates degenerate game situations.

Being able to plop down 3+ sight buildings wherever is entirely to power imo.

Its building sight should be reduced to 1.

or

Have it go into a construction type phase.

Secondly i feel that its OPness is compounded by the fact it can be used as creature removal as well. While thematically a cool mechanic the versatility drives its usefulness way up. Im not saying remove this aspect i just think its further cause to have its absurd control range addressed.

Yes it is a very good card. But you can still use all the creature removal on it. just one ascent, teleport, lysis... etc takes it out.

Or flashpowder to make it useless. Or, since (unless you're giving up a really powerful creature) there is a strong chance this new 'building' has about 2-3 HP, just kill the damn thing.

I don't quite understand this. Are you saying cast it on an opponent's creature as a form of creature control? I guess that would work, but rarely is a creature unable to see a flux well anywhere - it could very easily backfire. In fact, it would almost certainly backfire unless you were very deliberately cautious with its use.
