I had a creature with Gaze of the Tyrant sitting next to the center flux well in a Beta League game a few days back. My opponent was also controlling 2 flux wells. He cast Kaikias, an elemental creature, a few spaces away. I countered by casting Piked Heads exactly 2 spaces from my creature at the center flux well, believing I could not be attacked in melee. The next round he attacked and killed the aforementioned creature. It was gg at that point. Is this how fear is supposed to work or is the card not functioning as advertised? Thanx in advance for clarifying this matter.
Cordially,
Overlord of Gelatin

I had a situation where I couldnt see the actual land tile where Piked Heads resided but I attempted to move my Carrion Feeder into a space that it apparently was affecting. My Feeder became dimmed and it told me the move was invalid so I lost the creature movement for that turn.

[Bump]
Does Fear (2) prevent figures from other domains from moving to any space within 2 of this enchantment or not?
Thanks and Gracias,
DarkJello

Thanks and Gracias,
DarkJello Fear prevents only from moving closer, so figures still can run around and attack figures if they are close enough to source of fear.

I am still not 100% sure I understand how Fear works. Not to preach to the choir, but the following is the description from Fear(1) on the Haunt: "Non-Construct Figures of a different domain can't move within 1 spaces of the source of Fear or mover closer to source of Fear if inside this radius." According to this definition, Piked Heads should provide a safe zone "within 2 spaces of the source of Fear" except agains non-construct or Chaos creatures. If the Elemental creature could not move within 2 spaces of Piked Heads how was it able to attack my Chaos creature "hiding" inside this radius? You still cannot melee a space you cannot move into correct? Sorry for nagging, but my noob brain still says the ability does not work as advertised. Humbly, DarkJello

Whether your creature can be attacked depends on exactly where your creature, his creature, and piked heads are. You cast piked heads so the distance from it to your creature is 2. If the distance from it to his creature is 3 or more then he cannot attack you.
However, if his creature is at distance 2 from it, it can attack you because this does not involve moving closer to piked heads.
In summary, fear does not mean you cannot move into any tile within that radius, it only means you cannot move to any tile within that radius that is closer to the source of the fear than you currently are.

kash: If you are correct, and I have no reason to believe you are not, then the wording of Fear needs to be changed. Otherwise, it will continue to confound players until they remember that the definition of Fear does NOT mean what one would presume based on the english language. ("Non-Construct Figures of a different domain can't move within 2 spaces of the source of Fear..."). I underlined "within" because that word strongly implies the entire region should be a safe zone, except for non-construct and other Chaos creatures of course. Nothing needs to be changed simply because the wording on fear already accounts for creatures already within the range of fear. It says that something within range of the fear can still move and attack any space that is not closer to the fear source.
