I have the latest flashplayer extension that's available for my architecture (amd64) and operating system (Ubuntu). Adobe's extension only supports the i386 architecture, so I have to use a reverse-engineered version that follows the GPL. I guess that means I'm out of luck, huh.

Hi, You're running some kind of hacked version of the flash player on 64 bit? On vanilla 32bit Ubuntu i'm having no problems. The error # you're seeing implies that you can't connect to the policy server. Maybe you have some firewall settings set that are blocking this connection? Flash will attempt to connect to port 843 when it makes its first connection. yoric wrote: Protocol Ver: 773539735

Adobe's installer doesn't support the 64-bit architecture so I installed a free flashplayer plugin. Reading around I see that people have hacked together a script to allow the 32-bit install to work on an AMD 64-bit system...
I don't think that port restrictions are the issue (no firewalls in place). I'll check that when I get home this evening, play around with Flash 10 until I have something that I think will work, and then post back here. Thanks for your help!

I'm currently having the same problem. I've checked and it's the correct version, but I keep getting the same error messege: "SecErrorError #2048"
I'm running windows XP home with IE. I can't seem to find any problem with my connenction, but I'm starting to think that the error lies in the server and not this computer. (This is acually just a client that connects to a server computer, but I know that there is no problems with it.)
