This idea would probably fall somewhere pretty low on the development priorities list, but I'd like to see what people think about it.
What if there were a format where each player chose a set number of cards that they would not have to "cast", they could just "play", without having to worry about flux domain requirements... and then there would be a specific goal... i.e. destroy the enemy base building, destroy all enemy units, or occupy a certain space for more rounds than your opponent(s) within a certain time period (i.e. king of the hill).
The way I'm envisioning this working would be that each player would be given a set number of flux and domain "credits" that they would use to "purchase" cards before the game started. So lets say the number was 15 domain and 30 flux. Then you'd have to choose from your army, from a specific domain(s), certain domain tiers, or from the entire card catalog, depending on game settings. You'd choose a number of non-building cards that added up to be less than or equal to the flux/domain requirement. For example, I could choose 3 thistle falcons, 2 elvish scouts, 1 valdune arborist, 3 hellcats, 3 coldstream guard and 1 spaff's greatbow for a cumulative total of 15 domain and 30 flux. Or instead of all creatures I could throw in some spells/enchantments. And there would be limitless combinations and strategy variants, just like in regular play.
There was a play style sorta like this in Advance Wars, but I can't remember what it was called... if anyone has a good suggestion for what the call this format, suggest away!
