Well we think we will just have a contest with a prize for a few cards. No need to charge an entry fee.

False. There's a need to balance reward with a sudden attrition of card ideas. Not to mention that some ::cough:: can very easily simply re-post the same card idea, possibly with a different title or wording or flux cost, and claim they created it. Authorship in the forum for a particular card ideas is damn near difficult to discover already, and this only has the possibility to grow. Especially if you start offering legitimate prizes. Give a token of "yay your card is in the game!" without further encouraging people to just post shit upon shit on the forum.

Also, a free copy of the card is inequitable. Some people design a common card. Some people design a rare. You've rewarded them in different ways.
