Period.

I thought 5 hours was on the bad side, 8 hours is terrible. Now that gold is taken out of the ladder I hardly see the harm in throwing twice as much power into the market. I think clashes every 4 hours needs to happen for this game. People make a point to stick around if there is a clash within the next hour. If I see there isn't one for 3+ hours I don't bother after a quick sweep for games.

If you are highly against pumping that much power into the market then I will offer another solution that I don't quite like as much.

Rework system so power is worth less but still keep clashes at 4 hour intervals. I.E. same payouts but domain costs more than 50 power (100 if needed). You can give people who already own power the extra amount to make up the value.

People want more clashes.

agreed. I don't normally play in them anymore, but just checking out the schedule and seeing the next one is so far away is odd and annoying to me.

Use more market, clashes will be more common thing to happen. :mrgreen:

Now seriously; I would welcome that too, but rather put it back on every 5 (or 6) hours (could be done, now, when there isn't gold given away in ladder) - but don't rise the amount of power needed to for entry.
Even now, usually everyone is trying to sell power, and those who already are rich are just gaining another profit via buying most of their 50 power thus saving their gold... :)

I notice less activity since there has been less clashes. I dont know if this could be because of the end of a marketing campaign or its just low because.

I think people bitch more now too about other stuff but Im not totally sure about that. Maybe its just me who complains more.

Jed I'd like to hear your thoughts this stuff. If it's out of the question then say so.

Another thought is throwing in a sealed tourney every 8 hours as well. You could offset them from each other so then you have an event every 4 hours.

Yeah we would like to have clashes more often. I need to come up with some sort of prize that isn't convertible into gold.
One other idea is to have one bigger clash a day and then have more little ones. I'm just not sure what level of prize is enough to entice people. Is 2 power enough?

If you want to prevent direct conversion of power into gold, just make power unsellable on the market and untradable. But leave it alone as a valid currency for entering games.

I think this would encourage people to play in the clashes more frequently, since they couldn't use power for anything else... and when you do have enough power to cash in for something, you get a nice sense of accomplishment. :-)

I prefer being able to buy power. I prefer to be able to sell power.

A lot of times I survive in domain by selling earned power to buy packs and I dont see anything wrong with the current system. Changing that would make domain less competitive. You would have to allow packs to be bought with power.

@jed

Im not sure that two power is enough for people to purposely log on like I do for ECs. But I think its enough for people to compete if they're on.

Another thing, I like that 3rd takes home a prize. I think 4 power is ideal. 1st 2 power, second and third 1 power. I think its ok for second and third to have the same payout since both places lost only once.

Also, since your asking. You should let us know how much power you would like to give out a day so we can give more reasonable responses.

More ECs means more prizes being given out by TFW. How can I be against that? :)
Really though, my biggest issue with the ECs being every 8 hours is that they fall while I am at work (start & end of the work day) and when I should be sleeping. That doesn't change on a 8 hour cycle. It pretty much prevents me from playing the ECs except for the occasional weekend clash unless I decide to be severely sleep deprived the next day.
I suspect a lot of people in the States can say the same thing. Even if TFW can't support increasing the prize payout, please consider changing the EC cycle to every 5 or 7 hours... something that doesn't divide evenly into 24. That would move where they fall in a 24 hour cycle and give everyone a chance to play in them occasionally.

@Ugly_Pug:
Actually, it's every 8:15 hours, because the countdown for the next EC only begins when the previous one actually starts (usually 15 minutes after registration opens). We get a 45 minute shift each day and a ~5 hour shift each week. So it might be bad for 2 or 3 days in a row, but over a week it should shift enough to make it work for you.
