I've only had the combo mentioned used on me once, but I would say yes, turmoil + freehold is definitely worse than just totem. It's much easier to apply, and while there are some counters, you have to use most of them *immediately* after turmoil is applied. On the other hand, totem can be removed whenever you feel like it.

Not to mention you have to be able to see where you are casting totem.

why do you have time with totem but not freehold? They both are doing the same thing, contesting your well?

Well, Freehold is a Battle Ready building. Totem is a mere pathetic enchant(I consider it pathetic since just about every domain but DL has Disenchanting). Timing is needed for BOTH of them though. If Tumoil goes bye-bye, so does your chance to Totem or Freehold. Anyway, this is a bug that should be fixed in the case of Freehold. Totem is actually not that strong, just good. Freehold + Turmoil = T_T. You can't reconstruct totems anyway .

You say totem is a mere pathetic enchant, but I would rather take my chances with turmoil+freehold rather than turmoil+totem if opponent drops null stone to prevent disenchant. Not only that, totem can take all of your AoC away from you even if you have 3 1 sight buildings out, can freehold? Also @zblader, All except DL has disenchant? I'm assuming you are not counting mystic feedback, but in that case, show me your sylvan disenchant. Have fun getting 3 domain and the flux for restore natures balance with no wells (and possibly no AoC at all). My point is I dislike both, but I think totem is stronger unless you are mf.

sylvan also has gossamer palace and the guy that changes places with enchants ... though both are countered in this case by casting totem under a building.
totem is weakened a little because it costs more to cast than freehold. though, as noob noted, if it causes you to lose your entire area of control ...
I think this combo might be a tiny bit OP in how quickly it can get out ... but, really, there are a lot of good counters. I think it is much less OP than the vanilla DL strategy that so many players use. and much much less OP than the potential of orb of mind control.

@noob: Wrecked Huger's Turmoil+Totem with Nature's balance. Also took down 1 HoC domain . Queeshai is correct though. Hmmm, as for totem counter, is anybody forgetting a certain golden deer?
