So I noticed there are currently 5 players in the new copper league. The entry fee was 50 gold each. Currently, the 'potential prize' pool stands at a TOTAL of 138 gold.
Was the prize pool determined using the same math as a league that only cost 10 gold to enter? This needs adjustment. There isn't much incentive to play in a "high stakes" league if there are no high stakes to be had.

You can't see the rest of the money because there aren't enough people for all the prizes. The money for places 6 through 10 is already awarded based on the total entry fees.
In the unlikely event that the league ended with only five people then the prizes for 6th, 7th, 8th and so on that you can't see would just start at the top of the list again.

Hmm... so it's scaled against the maximum number of players that can join the league rather than how many have joined? Seems odd to me... and it still seems like the prize amounts are the same as the other leagues with a 10g entry fee. When things actually get going, if you have a league with a higher entry fee, I'd like to see a corresponding increase in the potental prize amounts. Risk more, win more or risk more, lose more... not risk more, win the same.

Checking this again just to be sure, we now have 13 players who each contributed 50 gold, and the TOTAL prizes available add up to 581. 650-581= community gold loss of 69 gold.
Perhaps it was meant to be this way... the cut that the "house" takes if you will... but I just wanted to point it out.

ya I talked to jed about it the other day, apparently Leagues payout 90% of the pot.
Personally, I think this is a horrible way to run Leagues. It means that only the top third even break even. This is something that is highly discouraging unless you're one of the top players and even the the payout isn't necessarily worth the risk and time involved.
Maybe I've just been spoiled, but every other online CCG I've played has had a slighly higher payout than payin for competitions. My guess, however, is that it is to encourage and not discourage participation.

well the ones that have higher payout are the ones where you buy the cards you use in the league. The 'domain keep cards" league running now has higher payout for example.

Good to know. I'll have to make sure I get into the next domain keep league.
