Why not limit the number of AI games per day. Something like...3 games per day?

not good idee, maybe i want test my deck more then 3 times?

mind i over jump your post. i quess i didnt really get it
Quote:
As for the first, they'll presumably grow out of it when they have enough money to make a Big Boy deck, right?
?

and i think the point is this:
i dont care about why/who/when is the phantom cards
i only care that 60% of the players play vs AI , because of the phantom cards.
so i (i quess not only me) have sometimes problems to find player for games, because 60% play vs AI.
it is fast/profit-yielding to win against the AI and win so Phantom cards.
do something that games vs Humans are "PhantomCards-profit-yielding", too
maybe let you get 2 Phantomcards if you win or lose vs a Human.
so everybody will stop play vs the stupid AI and play vs Humans, and "phantom mining"-player will get their phantomcards and everybody is happy.
or not?

Right, well I guess my point is this. Who comprises the 60%?. Your argument assumes that we want those people to be playing more human v. human games, right? Otherwise this whole argument is pointless. It also assumes that people play against the AI because it's profitable. I think people play against the AI because they do not feel comfortable playing human v. human games yet.

My belief, and I think this echoes what others have said, is that those people in the 60% are either 1) new or 2) bad. If they are bad, they should be allowed to continue to play against the AI for more practice. If they are new, they will eventually not play against the AI as much.

So the next thing to check is whether this is correct, or whether there are lots of good players that have been playing for a while that continue to only play the AI because it's profitable.

I tried to be as concise as possible so you can understand, but I apologize; I have a tendency to get overly verbose.

EDIT: I guess an example would be helpful. On the rare occasion that I play, I play against the AI first for a few games. I do this to see what's new in TFW, how my decks work, refresh my memory, etc. I am in no way motivated by the phantom cards - I have enough, I don't need more. So changing the phantom card system won't have any impact whatsoever on me playing the AI.

I play too much against the SarsAI because, 1) I'm too impatient to wait for a similar player to join, 2) SarsAI takes its turns much faster than a human, 3) SarsAI won't disconnect on me, 4) I can take as long as I like without having to worry, 5) when my cruddy connection craps out I know I'm not leaving a human in the lurch, and 6) I can resign at any time when something else comes up without any concern.

So maybe that 60% has some lazy, considerate players too.

thx for simple english mind.
i see we have different perceptions.

i dont play often, but when i play i see over 50& play vs Ai.
i will make screenshots

right, because TFW have a lack of players.
TFW is a player vs player (PvP) game, so we need players, arguments are for this :
TFW dont have
a campain,
a good background story (now i think it isnt important for TFW, month ago i was other oppinion)
no ultra-imbalance-rare cards for gatherers, every! card is balanced(devs try it) elv scout just as important!(not strong) as the sylvan aloft dragon.
TFW have many tournaments.
i would compare TFW with Warcraft3 not with World of Warcraft (i hope you could get my point)

i think yes, but i read loopy's post
i can only say, i see some people play vs 2 AI in the same time. why do they do this? because of fun? no, because of profit.
and a important fact in TCG: everybody wants to have "own" cards and decks. it doesnt matter wether it is only for 20 days or not.

hmm. loopy

Other than the connection issues, that is more or less what I would have written. I play the AI because I can jump in, play a game or two FAST and get back to what I was doing. When you play a person the turns take far longer, games drag on and you are more or less stuck playing them through to the end. One thing I LOVE about the game is that a battle lasts 10-15 minutes. When you play a human that can drag on to 30 a lot of times, and I've had PvP games go to time limits too. If I need to get back to work in an AI game I can just walk away.. no harm done. You walk away from another player and that's not so cool.

I have a lot of wins, almost all against the AI. I also do fairly well in the Domain Keep tourneys when I have time to play them, but without a doubt most of my "win count" is from the AI. I have quite a few phantom cards stacked up and have never once used one. If that makes ne a Phantom Pharmer, then so be it. Hell, I'd give them away to a noob if I could. I've given this game quite a chunk of money to buy cards, I don't particularly mind that and I don't see anything wrong with using those cards and my time playing the AI.

Raptorous mentioned people playing two AI's at once "for profit." Have you ever played against three AI opponents on the same map? it's quite fun, particularly if you make a smaller than average map, but I don't see how you get any more profit out of it. As far as I know you sill only get one phantom card... Maybe I did not understand that as intended...

vs 3 AI should be funny? i will try ;)

Here is the perfect solution for your problem:
Quote:
I'd love to see this happen for a few reasons:

1) Wins against the AI are meaningless when it comes to rating.
2) Wins against the AI are mixed with wins against humans, making it a useless statistic.
3) Wins against the AI "devalue" those human wins as they're combined.
4) Wins against the AI make the title associated with wins meaningless.
5) AI inflated win totals can mask how bad a player (like me) really is.

Granted I'm sure it's low on the "to do list", but I'd like to think others feel the same way as I do and maybe enough people chime in, it might rise in priority a teeny bit. (Plus it's always good to document these things so they don't get forgotten.)

the poster will be happy, i will be happy, and will you be happy, too?
