not sure what it means but it stops the game from loading and if you ignore it and try again by the 3rd time it lets me run the game, here is the error
Starting...
Verifying DirectX
DirectX up to date...
Verfiying files...
Error downloading updates... continuing...

when I get this I assume it's because the server is down. When I try again later on, it works fine.

you should just be able to close the launcher and it will start the game?
