how is it good that I spent 30$$ and you spent nothing, but youi are winning and I am not ? I usually wouldn't be this blunt but given your candor, I'd like to think you'd appreciate some in return. You're getting "your ass handed to you" and you're not winning because you're not a particularly strong player. Given your current constructed and limited ratings, you probably should be focusing more on strategy and game play over cards and how much you or your opponents have spent.

Id like to agree, but I was winning a lot before the change, now I only win 1 out of 6 games
I just beat Themist with a default...dark legion, figure that out ?

Well a quick check of market prices for the DL default shows the rares and uncommons going for under 300 total. At 3 gold a card for the other 25 cards and we're under 375 gold for the deck. A decent strength deck, but nothing all that impressive. Your $30 would have been enough to build the default deck four times over.
I had the best success with the default dark in MCs when I was cycling through the default decks. I'd say you got very lucky against Themist -- bad draws / terrain can affect a single game tremendously.
If those defaults were anywhere as good as you think they are, they'd be doing a lot better in the Expert Clashes than they currently are. . .

I never knew that my losing to a default deck would ever make the forums...lol. Its not the first time and probably won't be the last. I think we have all won and loss with them, it doesn't make them over powered.
Why are we really talking about this. If the default decks are so good...use them! Jed and the guys needed to give new players something to play with to start, its how I got into the game. Would you really get very excited about a game as a new player if you had a deck of only regular zombies to play? Would you have fun as and older player playing against a new player with that same deck?
All that being said, what do player really want from this Ladder system? Are you trying to collect all the cards?...Ladder is going to take you forever even if you win it consistently. Are you trying to become a higher ranked player?...Ladder is not really going to matter any more due to less games and your not going to make many changes to you deck if its winning.
I can't believe that a contest that gives away free prizes is making so many people unhappy. To be clear on this I have only spent twenty dollars on this game so far (sorry Jed and Crew), money I would never had spent if I wasn't given a chance to play with the different cards first. Since spending that money, I have won it all back through either selling power, cards, or winning in leagues. And if you really think about it the ladder is small change compared to these other means of making gold.

Is this the bragging section or the complaining about the ladder section?
I best Themist once as well, but it said we had played too many times for it to count towards the ladder. Since the win was such an outlier, shouldnt it retroactively account for my non-futility and give me a handful of points? I mean shouldnt two players' overall record be considered regardless of the order of wins or losses?
Other than that, free gold is nice. At least I've heard that from other people. So thumbs up.

Lord.... I personally don't see all the fuss about these phantom cards.... You have them too, I don't normally use them but if I get a good one, once I got a hill giant contractors =D(thx jed and crew), I use it in my ladder games because it can give an edge.
Anyways, back onto the actual topic, Flashpoint and I have been able to similar for ages so we have had many ladder games against one another, much like flash's last point whenever I beat him I only get a tiny amount of points. Yesterday I won i think 3 in a row and got less than 10 points, which, is severly off putting seeing as I know that if I had lost one after that I would've lost alot more.
I'm confused about how the points for the ladder are, is it random? or does it have something to do with rating?
My two cents.

how does that encourage people to spend money, you made my point for me: you dont spend money, but you get plenty of gold
that is a crap business plan
give people defaults sure, but no towers and spafs and shit
phantoms are ok, but keeping them for 3 weeks is stupid, many people WILL ONLY PLAY THIS GAME FOR 3 WEEKS. then their ADD riddled minds will get bored and they will move on
dont reward freeloaders, reward people that spend some money
I honestly feel ripped off and cheated, like I was stolen from, like I got tricked into spending money on something that everyone else gets for free. now Im the one at a disadvantage, because I sure spent money
with the balancing changes its even worse, I dont even have what I paid for, I will get some gold for cards that lost value, but not all the low level spells I bought to suppor a strategy now USELESS making half my collection worthless
great code, good art, terrible management Maybe this game is not only about how much you spend, but also about your SKILLS, experience (which you gain by playing) - and mostly about these. N00b will stay n00b and will with any deck loose to default if he isn't trying to improve himself, only blindly hoping that MONEY will solve everything... PS; don't use capitals, it look bit stupid Greetings! oops looks like I am bit late with my answer.. hope you others don't mind that much

My two cents. It has to do with both rating and how many times you have played each other in the current ladder. In particular, the more times you have played, the less each game is worth. This prevents, for example, someone from creating two accounts and just having one beat the other repeatedly for a massive number of points. So if it had gotten down to less that 10 points for 3 wins, you wouldn't lose more than about 5-10 points for a loss.
