While I appreciate the compliments to my deck...

Lately I've been being asked directly for games from certain people, people who've built a deck consisting of 40 cards designed to counter everything I do.

These decks get beaten up by standard style decks, but they do a number on mine for sure.

I don't think this is healthy for the game, it's creating a paper-rock-scissors environment.

If you know what you're playing against, you can assemble a perfect deck to beat it. Any deck can fall victim to that strategy.

So yes, there are direct counters to my deck that will work almost every time, but a standard-style deck probably stands no chance.

Since I feel like my Earthquake deck is getting called out here, I'll point out that

a) I built it well before I knew about your deck

b) It has been successful against a variety of decks

So while I agree that your deck probably needs to be tuned down, I don't think it is exclusively vulnerable to decks solely designed to beat it.

Practice et al:

First, your deck is ingenious! I had zero idea about its capabilities when we battled a few days ago. When you did not cast a creature right away, and also based on your virtual street cred, I knew something funky was gonna go down. I cast a 3 flux building near a 2nd flux well without even knowing where your base was. The terrain was problematic and I guessed wrong for your base. But a few rounds later I scoped out your base, and it was clear you were planning on winning the duel in an unorthodox and highly creative fashion.

I do agree that "the stars aligned" for me in that game. A Mana Dome would have slowed me down for sure. (Thank goodness you did not draw one). It is also true that I created a deck that had a chance of winning against your nasty combo. And this without Earthquake, or a single MF card for that matter. Gasp! Apparently it is possible to win with other domains. :P That deck would probably beat mine more often than not.

Next I watched your nasty building deck steal the cheese from one of the few "Saint"s of tfw site. I have no idea if any of my decks could handle that action. Again, brilliant stuff dude!

These new, legitimate ways to gain 20 glory before your opponent are certainly interesting. We will just see what the future of virtual battling brings us.

Yeppers,

DarkJello
