No, he's real, and just the kind of guy who'd borrow cards and not bother returning them. Also the kind who'd deliberately stall a game when losing, taking the full 2 minutes per turn.
Fortunately, I think he has quit the game a while ago. It does probably mean that those cards are gone, though...
