After d/l'ing the client installer, I ran it and it did it's stuff. It then creates what appears to be the game .exe, but is actually a 'launcher' which then checks for DX and VC status, and goes ahead and d/l's these (from MS I presume). While installing these or something, the program crashed. I tried running it again, to no avail: still it returns a bug message (it happens after the point where the log says it changes the .exe file name to X.exe.old). Checking the program registry, it appears the installed versions of both DX and VC are OLDER than the versions present in the Windows 7 install I have. I try removing everything I can (uninstall 'launcher' and the older VC version installed, I couldn't find where the DX bundles are managed) and re-install the launcher from scratch. Still doesn't work.
I reported the BugTracker/ Crash report twice, but don't know what to do. I feel like the local client would be better than the web flash, which has various wonky issues and seems alot slower than what a native client could accomplish.
I do wonder: Why wasn't a QT-OpenGL client developed, which could be easily ported to OSX / Linux? Perhaps that may have been more work than just a Windows DX client (which doesn't even work on my Windows 7 machine for some reason), but it would preclude the need for the web browser/flash client, so should more than balance out. ...?

I haven't tested it on windows 7 yet actually. Maybe try not installing the VC redistributable and DX and see if it works with the versions you have.

Unfortunately, re-downloading the installer didn't change anything. The loader gets all the way thru the VC and DX check, and apparently the file check, closing the 'log' window to display a very tiny window whereupon it immediately crashes. There is no options on what to install or not to install.
I've submitted the bug reports, so hopefully those are usefull somehow. I hope it gets fixed so I can try it out.
