Post subject: | FAQ tab |
I suggested in this thread that it would be nice to see a tab for a FAQ in the UI. If you have any suggestions as to what questions (and answers!) you think should be displayed here, please post below. EDIT: There is a small FAQ on the homepage EDIT 2: To do list: Update the Glossary in the Wiki, in order to have a link to it, with the following entries: Angel, Mutant, Fated, Similar (change: update description), Domain (change: add icons) I will start: What is Gold? There are two types of currencies in The Far Wilds. One is Gold, the other is Power [should be a clickable link to the separate entry for Power]. You can purchase Gold from the Market Section, using Paypal or any other major credict card. With gold you can buy cards on the market, buy Starter Packs in the Market Section or use it to enter the various Tournaments [clickable link] that The Far Wilds has to offer. (Note, though, that some Tournaments are totally free to play.) For much more information about Gold, please go here What is Power? There are two types of currencies in The Far Wilds. One is Gold [clickable link], the other is Power. Unlike Gold, you can't buy Power. Rather, it is something you gain if you are doing well in various Tournaments [clickable]. For instance, you get 4 Power if you win an Expert Clash [clickable], 2 if you are the runner up and 1 if you are third. You can enter Tournaments using Power and you can also sell it in exhange for Gold on the market. Why are there two types of currencies in The Far Wilds? Uhm... Sometimes the developers work in mysterious ways... The legend has it that one of the devs (who can't be named) had a beer too many and asked himself 'Hm... Why just have one currency? That won't make me Bill Gates rich, will it? Muhahahaha, I will create another one, and then I will be able to buy both Google and Microsoft!' Only time can tell whether the legend will come true in this sense, but it is a fact that we both have Gold and Power in The Far Wilds. How do I get an Avatar/Profile Picture? Go to 'Options' in the top right corner of the interface. There is a drop down menu next to 'Avatar' where you will be able to select your desired picture. |

What is a Default card? When you register an account, you are given three different, pre-made armies from three different domains (Dark Legion, MountainFolk and Sylvan), together with five Basic Buildings [click] from all domains, including the other three currently existing domains (Elementals, Celestial Imperium and Hordes of Chaos). Default cards, unlike Phantom cards [click] and cards that you have bought, can’t be sold or traded. You can tell that a card is a Default Card by the fact that it is greyed out and that it does not have an expiry date. The exception to this rule is Default buildings which have their normal colour. Except for these differences, Default cards work in much the same way as other cards. Hence, you can include any variety of them in your decks (given that they adhere to the normal deck rules for each format), including the deck with which you enter the Expert clash [click]. What is a Phantom card? A phantom card is like a Default Card [click] in that it is greyed out and can’t be traded or sold. The difference is that it has an expiry date. When you receive a Phantom card, you will have it for twenty days, after which it is deleted from your army. You can acquire Phantom cards by playing on the weekly Ladder [click] or by playing the computer (SarsAI). After each win against the computer, you acquire one Phantom card and if you are fortunate enough to be ranked at the top of the Ladder before it resets, you acquire 60 Phantom cards. For the distribution of Phantom cards in the Ladder, see this [click]. You can include any variety of Phantom cards in your decks (given that they adhere to the normal deck rules for each format), including the deck with which you enter the Expert Clash [click]. |

Excellent idea. Let's make it a wiki page so that any player can add/edit as needed. (The WIKI login is the same as your forum login) http://thefarwilds.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ |

Adding some questions that I think should be answered... From the homepage, I take this one: When is the next set going to be released? We don't have a set release date at this point. Follow up: Can you tell us anything about the plans for, and content of, the new set? A basic one: What does the colors green, red and yellow/orange mean in the lobby? Another basic one: On my profile I can see some numbers, what do they mean? From the main page: How does the ranking system work? Three questions that I would like to see answered Why are there no Default armies for Elementals, Celestial Imperium and Hordes of Chaos? What are the differences between the Download and the Browser version? Is this game REALLY free to play? |

Real quick.. bcz I'm about to go out the door for the competition. I didn't read your whole post, but skimmed it... I think the reason that there are no default armies is that no one has come up with them. They would have to make a good army with cards that don't cost a ton (bcz the price still needs to be equal to or greater than buying all those same cards on the market). I mean, if you could do a default Chaos deck and get 3 LPA's, 3 Gaze, 3 Char, 3 Goblin C's, 3 Vessels, etc... ppl would buy the armies and then the price of those cards woud drop on the market.. |

Added: Is the game really free to play? Why are there no default armies for Elemental, Chaos, and Celestial Imperium? (Credit to Keyser for answer) Why are the names in the lobby green/yellow/red? What are the differences between download/online? What's a Ladder Rank? Do I HAVE to limit my deck to 40 cards? See wiki for for the rest of the questions I've added. |
