Attacked the enemy Stone Mauler with my own Mauler and did not specify a hex to attack from. The autopath put it in the same hex as my Hellcat...looks like he is riding the cat!
Next turn I clicked that hex with both critters in it. Mauler's picture came up, but the hellcat's range grid was highlighted and the Hellcat moved. Mauler moved fine afterwards as well.
On a side note, this would make an interesting enchantment: Saddle

Below and left of the cat. I distinctly remember the hex to the left of the cat highlighting as a potential attack hex and just clicked the enemy mauler to let it auto choose (which is exactly what I did with the cat as well the action prior). It ran right through that hex to the left of the cat and entered the cat's hex and attacked.

I noticed something like this happening the other day too, only it was a Wilds game.

I wonder if this is related the the bug I posted that is causing buildings that cannot actually be attacked to register as attackable:
