Rumors abound with the new system of the EC rewarding acorns instead of power. While this will certainly make all the neighborhood squirrles exceedingly joyful, it's left the players a bit bewildered.
I offer the following conjecture:
Acorns are most likely a new form of currency, but one that is untradeable.
Power, being tradeable, is essentially the same thing as gold. When you won an EC for 4 power, you won between 36 and 40 gold.
Acorns will most likely allow you to join a tournament, but you'll have to reap the nutty reward by earning every single acorn all by your squirrely self.
The EC used to give away 7 power, and it used to cost 50 power to join a Domain or KC. If the EC now gives away 400 acorns, one must assume that the new join fee will be 2857 acorns. This could be rounded down to 2850 but will most likely be rounded up to a gigantic 3k.
Either Acorns will have such a use -or- Jed has taken to Ford Prefect's love of a currency that no one accepts (credit for this reference goes Ugly_Pug). If you don't know what is being referred to here, go take 4 hours read all 5 books of the Hitchiker's Guide trilogy..or read
this except.
