It always seems that the forums is only for us experts and semi-experts to talk, review, and suggest more stuff for this game. We should somehow put some more notice to the forum up, so newbies can join the discussion as well. Would liven up this place anyway.

Good point Zblader...link should be added to 'welcome' login message in lobby. Would also give them to access to alot of useful information.

That's because there is NO LINK IN THE GAME to the FORUM....
also: Newbs (not Alts, though) should be awarded 10 gp for their first forum post, 50 gp after 20 non-spam posts, and 100 gp when they hit 500 posts.
Maybe even something crazy like 2000gp to the first person to get 10k posts.

Why would jed/TFW pay out gold for forum posts as such? Seems just to invite the increase of spamming, trolling and other stuff that doesn't seem to be of benefit to TFW. If anything, reward posts that are constructive and substantial, for they will in the end make the game better. (Bug reports should perhaps also be rewarded with something.) But I do agree that there should be a link to the forum in the game.

Now... if there was a currency that couldn't be traded or profited from by spamming accounts.... then that would make sense.

Acorns? GOLD! Give me GOLD!But really, how could you tell if someone was an alt? You couldn't really. But you could cross reference with how many games the account has played. And maybe only make the offer available to accounts that have bought either gold or starter packs. No one is going to bother playing 50 games and buying 500 gold or a starter pack just for the purpose of getting 10 gold. And even if a couple people exploited this because they needed to add some gold or buy a pack anyway so they make an alt account just for the purpose of getting 10 gold back, well they are still going to have to play 50 games (25 against real people, not the AI) so I think it would be highly uncommon. Or instead of gold: Give random permanent phantom cards to forum regulars. Can't sell or trade, but doesn't disappear after 20 days. Not based on amount of posts either, maybe just have a minimum of 1 post per month and 2 visits per week (a visit being logging in and viewing at least 3 posts for more than 10 seconds each) to be in the raffle, then the system would randomly give a couple cards out once a week. Maybe also give one out specifically for particularly useful/valuable posts as well. What card is given though should always be randomized though, and maybe with higher chances of commons and lower chances of rares. An interesting thing about this would be that if there aren't many active forum members then the chances of getting a card each week would be higher, creating greater motivation to take part in the forum. So the motivation factor increases in proportion to the need for more forum participation. Note: the requirements of being considered "active" that I gave were only an example, the specific details should be withheld. We should not be told exactly what the requirements of being "active" are, but rather just informed that it is not dependent on making lots of posts and that we can rest assured that if we are regular active forum members they will know and we will be included in the raffle.Another way would be to just randomly announce the raffle on the forum now and then in a random section of the forum and those who reply will be included. If someone is checking in here every day for those announcements chances are they will end up getting involved in the forum.

The "default card" gift is an interesting idea. I think I'm going to say our best method is a combination of Keyser's and Linehand's : the more posts you make, the better chance you have of getting a prize from the raffle. Higher prizes would be default cards, lesser prizes would probably be phantoms.
We are also forgetting about another part of TFW that is in a similar condition to the forum- the wiki. I think a similar reward should be given to those people who make good contributions to the wiki.
Hope this helps.
P.S. And guys, the whole "posting for currency" thing is highly unlikely. Almost every way to get currency for no money/gold/power has been eliminated except for the expert clash.
