Could you add a feature under options to turn of image loading for card descriptions, and the card image border or maybe even the critter on the field? Maybe a simple dot or place holder could take its place since text descriptions are good enough for some players would also make things a bit challenging . Not sure if that would help lag when in a game or a tournament. I am just assuming images are loaded from the server on every move or when card description is clicked, so if the placeholder was built into the flash or the download it could cut some of the needed data requests.

Images of creatures & buildings aren't working for me half a time anyway, so I guess this suggestion has come true already

Images are loaded only when you need them i.e. see it first time in any of game screens (army, market, battle, etc). If you seen image once browser cache it, so this should happen only when you see it first time on your computer and not not when you see it first time in session or battle. Well, this is how it is intended to work, but usually it works much worse as Uraxor just mentioned. Fixing this might depend on browser/flash version and our implementation, but we will try to fix that later. And btw, in downloadable client it works, since you get this images from game folder
