As you people who like to play Keep Cards know it is often hard to get the 4 players needed for it to start. So I added a feature that should help with coordinating.

You can now sign up to get an email when there are people in keep cards. It will send the mail to what ever email address you entered when you signed up. You can change it in your forum preferences.

Sign up by typing:
/sub
in the lobby
you can stop getting emails by just typing /sub again.

Could you have an option to have it send a PM as well?

I'd like a list that says "PM everyone that is online that has signed up as being interested in Keep Cars" so I can ask "Up for a Keep Cards" to that list rather than having to click every name that is online and ask if they are interested in a keep cards (my usual MO).

Also, have you considered having one keep cards a day or week that has bonus money in it? A couple hundred extra GP added to the prize pool so that everyone that played (even 3rd and 4th place) get's at least a little something. It would add incentive to play, motivation to give it a shot. And once you have someone play once or twice, they will probably want to play more.

If you are online and interested why not just wait in Keep Cards?

lol.. have you ever tried doing that?
You can wait for hours.

The ONLY way I've gotten Keep Cards to start is to join it and then PM everyone that is online with "interested in a Keep Cards"

I hope this will help. If I knew there were people waiting, there are certainly times I'd log in and join. Some more refinement where notifications only happen when x # of players are in, or restrictions based on time would be great.

Also, I'd actually suggest reducing the cost of keep cards to 450, and knocking 60g off 1st place and 15g off 2nd place to compensate (510g for 1st and 175 for 2nd). That way 3rd and 4th at least get an even deal. And I think I did the math right such that it retains the current payout ratio.

I read my mails very seldom, so this is not for me. I do Agree with Keysers suggestion that we should have some "please contact me if you are interested in a keep card draft - tag/signup". If I saw aloth of people with these tags online i would ask them. Now I usually just assume that no one is interested.

So doiron, you reduce the amout of gold paid by 200 and reduce prize pool by 75 - now how does that work?
3rd and 4th are also often people who draft more expensive cards than the 1st and 2nd place, so I wouldn't say they are screwed that bad.

currently:
2000g in
570 + 190 = 760g out
1,240g net in, or 62% take

proposed:
1800g in
510 + 175 = 685g out
1,115 net in, or 62% take

I did the math by the % taken in, which I thought was the reasonable way to approach it. if you assume the net in is the right way, then prizes would equal 560g, 1st could be 420g (150 less than now) and 2nd could be 140g (50 less than now), using the current 3:1 reward ratio. I suppose that would make more sense now that I think about it.

it should be noted that this is equivalent to giving 3rd and 4th places 50g each under the current system. while I admit 3rd and 4th are often those who rare/uc draft, a lot of times it's just a matter of noobs vs pros. the intention was to make it a little easier on the noobs.

Ahem, you missed one little part that players also recieve cards, so your math is far from correct.
Your math is correct only in case that noone get cards.
Following your math you can reduce fee and prizes to 0 and it will have same rake.

2000g in
570 + 190 + 12 packs = 760 + 1800 = 2560g out
-560g, or 28% give

very true. I knew I was missing something basic. But as I noted before, reducing the entrance to 450g and modifying prizes to 420/140 is the same as reducing 1st/2nd so that 3rd/4th both get 50g. So I don't think working around the % give is the correct method to use for determining payouts. You guys in charge can say if it's different :)
