One of the problems with the Domain league when it ran was that aloth of people were screening their games (only playing against players they thought they could win against). This resulted in aloth of high ranked players having problems with finding matches, and not being able to play all their games. I suggest therefor that anyone who has been waiting for a game, without break, for more than one hour will be granted one victory. This way it will be easier to at least get the games one need if one have time to sit and wait one hour. I know that this is a long time to wait for a game, but it should be hard to get a free win.
Did I write about this before?

so for 5 hours of waiting I will win all of my domain's games? this would only result in ppl trying to log on in obscure times to get free wins => much less games played.
bcz wtf should I play CaveTroll if I can get a win for an hour of waiting?
not sure, but I think someone suggested a system before I really liked. the system was granting victory points at the end of domain, based on value of players. value was calculated from number of wins, thus winning against someone who won most of his games was more valuable than winning against newbie who lost all of his games. exact numbers are subject to a discussion, ofc

The thing is that getting free wins will be hard, since you have to be on for one hour, and during that time anyone can logg on and accept your challenge. If you think one our is easy to pull of one can of course just say that it requires two hours instead. This rule will probably make the players who join the Domain league only to win prizes and not to play and have fun try to get free wins. This will make it much easier to make them play games against anyone. Greed will help us make them play games since they are axactly the kind of people who will try to get free wins, and will be waiting for a game. Before these people only joined the queue when they knew they were facing a weak oponent, now they will probably be wating there much more often.

This makes games less about winning and losing and more about how do i say "jackpot" wins. Say for instance i play Uraxor who wins 5 games in a row but loses all the rest. i was his 6th game....thats what i would call a jackpot win. You got a high end win cause you timed your game perfectly to win and get that highend score also...But honestly i like the idea...it just seems like it could have a few flaws. also how would be playing early in the game be different than playing late in game since number of wins will be different? Did I write about this before? i think this idea isok also but i also agee that honestly i think itll be too easy to get free wins with people not always being on lately. It could work but im just not sure. Anyways both ideas have potential.

If we try this out and we find that it is too easely abused, we can just increase the time needed to get a free win. As more and more people join the Domain league I think that it will become nearly impossible to abuse this.

The "free win" idea only solves one part of the problem though, while the "ranked points" idea could solve it all IMHO. The last domain point system basically told every player - weak or strong - to avoid playing strong players at all costs, unless that was the only way to get your weekly games completed. No one should be forced to choose between playing a game when you can, and maximizing your points. A proper system should balance the rewards, so that any match is a good match. That would make domain a lot more enjoyable for all! Monyx: One way of solving that issue would be to count the points only when all games are finished. It would mean that you don't know beforehand how much a win would be worth, but that might be a good thing: you can simply stop calculating and trust that whoever you face you'll get fair odds in the point system.

@Cavetroll's idea (too lazy to quote it).
It won't solve the problem of no games in domain league, it will just ensure that those who people avoid will always here domain league.
Let's look at this scenario. Dodger is player that avoids domain games with top players. Cavetroll is such a player. Altren adjusted the domain league to award points every 5 hours. Lester is a worse player than Dodger.
They all join domain league. Cavetroll enters the room and goes on queue. Dodger comes on, see's Cavetroll, assumes he's on queue. Dodger decides to award Cavetroll his free win instead of taking a loss. Cavetroll proceeds to stay on queue for the next 25 hours, thereby getting his 5 wins. After several days, Dodger knows CT has used up his games and he's now on the prowl. He can then proceed to trounce Lester and Fester and Jester and all their friends, actually beating CT in the rankings.
I don't like the other idea either. I feel that the only real solution is to actually force the matches to be held one way or another.

I think Atahulpa got a point, but I stil think it is worth trying out. I dont think being queued for an hour is very easy. Another idea is to have names visible as "unknown" in lobby room, so people dont know who is queued. Dont know if this will work though, but could be worth trying out. What about people being able to hide ones ranking?

Just throwing this in... this is an addendum to "forcing matches." It may also be feasible to allow players to play prolonged/extended games like dads and their sons do in the movies where they only meet a few times each year but have a chess game going. So, what happens is, the round timer is extended to maybe 12 hours and a player has that long to respond (makes for painfully long games). Kinda sucks now that I think about it, but it's an idea.

Add a new button under the game selection on the main screen. You already have "Play Similar" and "Play Anyone". The next should be "Play Domain". It would function the same as "Play Anyone" but only in context of others who have joined the domain. First person to click on the button gets priority on the queue. And you have no way of knowing who happens to be waiting there for you to play, because you are accessing it through the main interface and not having to enter the Domain lobby. This way, -anyone- online in the main lobby could be in the domain queue waiting for you, not only those who are currently in the Domain lobby. Implementing this along with the idea of having tie-breakers based on your opponent win percentage (think MTG tournament tie-breakers) should solve the problems. What I mean by the tie-breaker system can be seen here: http://www.starcitygames.com/pages/newtomagic.php
