As I understand, my pahntoms add value for the card (and prize) pool, so I make you profit each time I add something. It just prevents me to get any gold, but you will be richer with all other players who join with phantoms.

I don't want to destroy "your" money. :)

I totally agree with DarkJello. I tried the format and it is not fun. The traditional matches are much better.

If you want to make a real guild war, make a huge card pool for guilds, from which the members will build 3 (or 4 or 5 - depends on the number of guild participants) armies to play with. Then the guild war may start with trainings and other stuff that DarkJello proposed.

It's should be so, but it isn't :( I asked jed.
If he will fix this, phantoms will not a problem any more.

Hey guys, sorry to gatecrash, but reading this just gave me an idea. I too found the persistent wilds... well... .... anyway, the inspiration:

-each guild / or per guild member (equal participants) gets a piece of map
-add cards like it is right now
-recieve ie. 50 flux to form a realm/empire
-pay for buildings, creatures(must have enough domain present), enchantments
-no card drawing, have access to all cards added (like building a deck but on the map)
-save "realm"

-when the guild war starts, all maps are joined into one big map
-you start with your realm, ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum
-cards are drawn normally now
-recieve some flux either the standard way, or can save up from original budget.
(this is for spells, reserves etc)
-all out of bubblegum

Okay this so far might be better for an one-off engagement in one day, so:
-for a week long persistent mode, maybe have a "guild homeland" part of a map that is either invincible or i dunno, but guildies spawn there rather than just get killed a few turns before finding a secluded spot to spawn.
-maybe each day a new realm can be "created", joined to the existing map or just stuff added to the homeland.

Anyway i rant cause it was a cool idea inspired by PredatorORC. Havent really thought it through, but id totally temporarily join a guild (yes independence is important dammit) for something that people can first plan out, and then fight!

Actually maybe its better as a weird new form of a single match. Just throwing ideas, maybe you guys can salvage something usefull from all that rambling. I actually rather like and prefer the standard 2player or 4 player match.

Opinions wanted:

Is anyone really doing anything in the guild war? There appears to be zero movement of any kind in the last 2-3 days. Grug is in 1st place, and has more points than EVERY other player combined! Are people having fun? Is there a chance of any shift in positions for those in the money? Or was this thing over after 1-2 days?

Any insight is welcome...

My 2 centavos on the format have been given, looking to see what others think.

It seems that the wilds can easily be taken advantage of by any player with an extensive amount of resources... perhaps there should be caps on an individual's contribution to the match? Otherwise whoever has the most resources can pretty much victory.

Caps of some sort would make this a bit more about strategy, and less of an economic conflict.

Umm....I've been waiting 20 turns for a BASIC BUILDING which I added in the army screen...

I can't do anything without a building...

hmmmm

I don't even see it as an option in the lobby right now. Also, it appears this guild war was decided day one. An attempt was made to challenge the power of grug and his staunch allies, but it appears to have failed miserably almost as quickly as it was implemented. Hopefully future guild wars won't be this lopsided from beginning to end.

Congrats to the victors!

Back after finals and some rest!

On a more serious note:
1. This is the internet. Anyone can make their IP appear as if theyre in Antartica if they want to. Waste no time on that.
2. I know lotsa people will hate me cause of this: Perhaps lower the amount of gold gained every week, thus negating basic greed that leads people to cheating? This would only lower the "bad stuff"(tm).
3. Ban or whatever for match fixing. Though it would only lead to people talking in code.
4. Change the reward system a bit so that it enforces playing against lots of other people. Ie. must have played against 20 different people every week to even be eligible for a prize.? Good luck trying to find 20 people to cheat with.

Atcually, all this applies to real life. Theres fake ids, and code talking(read any random spy novel), yada yada. but we still do it, cos 10% of the population doing it is better than 50%.

Even with their budget, Blizzard can't completely get rid of gold farming though...
Legal gold farming is not illegal. Theres nothing wrong with gold farming. Also, ppl pay blizzard for an acc, so its all verified.
Its the gold selling for rl money thats illegal.

Quote:
1. No negative points. You get a small amount of points for a loss, a large amount of points for a win.
When I started playing tfw, and you started at zero points, and never dropped to negative, I was always gungho to play anyone, hoping to win with a starter deck. If I won once or maybe twice, ill stop, and then collect a bunch of gold.
In one month of doing this (3 adders atcually) i gain about as much gold doing that as compared to 4 or 5 ladders with the new system. :S
Just a fyi and my experience.

How about having more slots and decreasing the top prize. Say place the top prize at 50 gold, and then go alllllllllllllll the way down to 1 gold, with 2x the amount of current slots.

Pros: More players have chance to get gold, even a little bit. Higher distribution. Yay!
Cons: Pro players get less. Probably will go to EXPERT clash where they belong, or domain. :P
Pro AND Con: Less gold / player. Not as rewarding, but also means alts make less money. Lets say you work your alts weekly and get about 80-110 gold, with about 7+ farms backing each up.
Now, you get half to 1/3rd the gold, with the same effort. :D
It also consequently mean the same thing for us normal players, but having more slots means the lower players (as noob_mexican said) has a higher chance to get a tad bit of gold(some > none) and the possible reduction on alts is a good thing all around.

Protesting against that is not whining.
Hear Hear.

To me, the fundamental question is not how to "fix" the ladder, but how to stop the abuse of alt accounts.
True. But i think the ladder could use upgrades to help speed up the reduction of alt acc.

Quote:
The easiest way (this won’t be the most popular suggestion) is to make sim games available only to accounts which buy gold.
This game will die. You missed that part.

Quote:
I hope TFW begins to devote some resources to watching for cheating patterns. That would stop a lot of abuse and hopefully discourage most of the rest.
Community police/mods!!!!

Quote:
Past that, I think some cheating is something the TFW community will have to learn to accept.
True, society IRL accepts and tolerates a manageable amount of crime. Same with wow and diablo2 and all dat. As long as its not overly rampant, effecting the majority of the player base, its all cool. If its big, good honest players will leave, and the game will attract more cheaters.
I think its at an unacceptable or uncomfortable level personally. TFW can bring on all the new cards and wad not, but if this isnt given attention, I do not forsee myself staying on long enough to warrant investing in this game financially. Why spend money when I can instead just bot/macro and use alts all the way?
