I had 600 (approx) points.
I lost one game and dropped to 300 points.
I won the second game against the same player, and went to 370 points.
Isn't that kinda silly? I mean, I understand the points dropping every time you play the same player... but that much of a drop just after the first match? I think you should get two matches of around the same points before it drops suddenly.
As you are worried about cheating, perhaps it should be a drastic drop if you win two in a row, but at least give the looser a chance to get SOME of their points back in a second game...

As far as I remember formulas is something like (150 + (looserRank - winnerRank)) / 2^(numberOfGamesPlayed -1). (not sure about 150 and may be there's some constant before rank difference) So: 1) if you win player that have 50 less rating and if you loose to him results is different - you may win 100 or loose 200; 2) in each next game against same opponent resulting points will be twice less. So don't loose to low-rated players

Hmmmm.... I always thought that a loss usually meant that you lost half of your current ladder points.

cosmo: that just means you are losing when you don't have that many points to begin with... can you imagine going from 2000 ladder points to 1000 in one loss?

hmmm it just seems everytime I lose when I'm at > 0 points, I lose exactly half!
Like 142 --> 71 or 348 --> 174
maybe it's just a coincidence when it happens
I mean I do usually stop when I'm at like 600+ points

yeah you need to have a large number of points.. 348 is not actually a large number... i believe you lose half if you would otherwise lose more than half.
