I'm really against changing Nightmares, as it doesn't really seem overpowered. This change destroys any combos that the card might have, none of which are super good. With Altar of Ix, a creature, and 3 domain you get the benefit of a Ronk's Factory that is susceptible to building hate, enchantment hate, and corpse hate (the latter I'll admit is currently lacking). I just cannot see how this is too good. Crypt Doctor can make a nearly unkillable creature, but this can be stopped by removing either Nightmares or the Crypt Doctor.
If you still strongly believe that Nightmares is too good, just add 1 to the activation cost. It would be a weaker card, but it would still be fun and maintain a high creative potential.

I agree the change does weaken it, but I don't think it destroys combos. It just means they don't run permanently. It still doubles the amount of flux you get from Nether Plasma + Ix. You can still Mind Transfer the creature over to your opponent. With this change, I would actually be ok if you strengthen it a little in return by allowing it to raise your opponent's creatures too (it was already doing this as a bug). Then it actually doubles as corpse hate.
