I think it should be possible to target Mana Dome, else it will be too powerfull. Anyone else?

I think Mana Dome is a major niche card as is...

I don't see many people running it.

Like most well designed cards, it becomes a great card under certain circumstances.

Agreed. In its current form, it makes decks that just fortify themselves to their corner too powerful with all the new glory gaining cards. Besides those decks are very boring to play against and deplete the game of pretty much all strategy and tactics.

I don't remember encountering (partially) celestial decks without mana domes since the first days of the first beta league.

Mana dome counters sinkholes, negates, etc. Nothing else really counters those.

If Mana dome is destroyable by those same cards, then nothing will continue to counter negate, fissure, and the rest of them.

Cards all have checks and balances - this is the balance for Celestial domain against Mountain's previously unrestricted harassment.

Even then, mana dome is only useful on a small part of the map. If you try to expand or attack, mana dome does you no good.

I really fail to see how it's overpowered.

I definitely don't think that Mana Dome should be able to be targeted. With that restriction, it would be arguably worse than Null Stone.

However, I don't really like the idea of MF building decks using Mana Dome. Everyone says that this card counters those decks, but I think that these are the decks that benefit the most from Mana Dome. I think that the cost could probably be changed to 3II from 3IX. That way only decks with a strong Imperium dedication can fully utilize its power.

or maybe add a new trait that restricts an unaligned card from being used by a particular domain?

How about this:

Instead of preventing spells and enchantments completely, you could make it affect flux costs of the spells and enchantments. For example making them cost 3 more, and every time the opponent casts a spell or enchantment within the radius, he loses all his flux. This way every deck would have a chance to deal with it, but it would be very costly to remove it with spells.

Or it could stay the way it is now, but become targetable itself and get a lower flux cost or come to play with 5 salvage counters for example. Then no one could complain it being weaker than null stone.

A major difference between the Mana Dome and the Null Stone is that the former disallows ENEMY spells and enchantments but not your own within the signified space whereas the latter does not allow ANY spells and disenchantments (if I have read it correctly, which I may not, just woke up...).

I think that difference is a major one since the Null Stone can backfire on you whereas it is hard to see the Mana Dome ever doing that. A case could be made (although I am not sure whether I would want to argue it) that the Mana Dome should have the same wording as Null Stone, albeit still not targetable itself.

Can't find any sleepy smilies, but I would attach a couple here if there were any... :o
