Please consider:

Many cards in TFW have the reputation of being OP. When a player makes a kick-ass deck using certain cards, those decks are soon copied, immitated, modified, and start to run rampant.

We've seen this in the past with Sylvan Rush (was nerfed), with MF/Elemental decks dominating the scene (nerfed), and currently with DL being quite prominent.

As soon as a combo/card sees prolific use, players that don't use that combo/card start complaining about the combo/card being OP. Debates ensue.

My supposition is that if we spent less time complaining (I'm guilty of this as well), and more time building new decks, these problems would iron themselves out.

For example, I had a fun NP/LOC/Ragnarock deck that was complained about and eventually nerfed. Yet that deck was completely shut down by either Gilded Organ or Overclock. Prior to the NP nerf, Overclock decks started to see some serious play. Organ/Overlock/Building decks were almost impossible to defeat.

So here's my proposal: BEFORE making nerfs, why not hold competitions to build decks that counter the "OP" decks.

I do think Ix is Op, but even if it werent I dont think it is fun. And since Organ and overclock is really boring cards to play against (yes I am aware that I use them aloth myself), it would be sad if more people started playing them because thats the only way to stop Ix.

Other ways to stop IX:

Tremor, Fissure, Sink Hole, Dispel Flux, Negate (if you have vision at the time), etc

When you have to hold a competition to make a deck to counter a certain card, isn't that a sign there might be something wrong???

Kind of takes the variety out of the game if it becomes Np/Ix decks and Anti Np/Ix decks.

Perhaps competition is the wrong word...

I suppose I'm just hoping that people will spend more time countering decks rather than assuming that a strong deck is OP.

My NP/Rag deck was beaten by decks long before the NP got nerfed.

If Alter/Ix decks are super prominent (I haven't payed an EC in about a week, so I'm not sure if they are).. but if they are, then someone building a deck that can stop them would have a really good chance of winning some Power in the EC.

Just make a Dispel/Negate/Valley Fog/Fissure/Tremor/whatever else you want deck..

I dont think that any of these cards are good counters to Ix, but I kind of agree on your point, that we shouldnt nerf something before trying it out thoroughly, but in the case of Ix i think this has been done.

the specific category of buildings that can be hidden away behind your base is very difficult to stop, the buildings can be placed on high ground behind other buildings while protected by your creatures.

buildings from set one that fit this category: Acmar's disruptor, bronze statue, ord stone, hadarck's throne, altar of ix, Seat of the Essenes, Gilded Organ (other are primarily used offensively or to take flux wells)

of these Ord stone, Hadark's throne, Gilded Organ, and Seat of the Essenes have previously been nerfed; while Ord Stone, Hadark's throne and Gilded Organ still see significant play.

Risking the faux pas of linking to my own post...

Let's consider deciding nerfing of cards by empirical data
