Pick a number X (that will increase as the game gets more popular).

For now, let's say X=30

Whenever 30 players are online, a BONUS EC will be scheduled to start at a time equal to one hour after the 30th player logged in (Alt accounts don't count... it has to be 30 different IP addresses). An email is sent out to every registered playing saying 'Bonus tournament starting in one hour! Only 30 spots available. All players can register, but if the tournament is full, priority registration goes to those who have been online the longest. IE, if you just logged in, and someone has been only for 5 hours, the newly logged person could be kicked out of the registration if the other player joins the tournament before it starts."

This encourages players to be logged on, and stay logged in.

The more players online, the more OTHER things can happen besides the EC (domain, brass, practice, etc, etc, etc)

A limit should be set, such that the BONUS EC's can't start if within 1 hour of a regular EC and within 4 hours of the last BONUS EC.

Hmm. I like the idea, but I don't see how jed would prevent multiples from the same ip. He couldn't (wouldn't?) to save ladder, but he can now?

I agree with mex, and what from I've read of his post, this will most likely be hard to put in anyways.
