100% agreed. It's not fun for anyone anymore when your opponent is all butt-hurt after losing. Makes you think maybe you should have given the other guy the victory if it's that important. Geez, it's just a game guys, and it's supposed to be fun whoever wins. If it makes you feel better you can always blame the terrain, draw, bad matchup, the weather, god or whatever, but better keep it to yourself and not whine about it too much, and rather admit defeat like a man (even if you are a girl).

DISCLAIMER: this post was directed to a fictional player and in fact the whole post was entirely fictional and doesn't reflect my thoughts on any real players out there.

Like I've said in the past, the culture of this game is what we make it.

Not only do we come from different countries all over the world-- we come from different subcultures as well. Various ages, backgrounds, etc.-- but I'm sure we can all agree to a standard code of conduct/etiquette.

1) Be polite to your adversaries-- they teach you your strengths, your weaknesses, and they're much more fun than playing against the computer. If no one was willing to play with you because of your poor etiquette (which I've seen happen), the game becomes rather boring.

2) It's not bad etiquette to note imbalances in a given game... I for one don't enjoy winning when my opponent was obviously terrain or card screwed in some manner or other. Don't complain-- but it is helpful for your opponent to know that they were not playing against your full strength.

3) Win and lose graciously. If you won, thank your opponent for their time with a simple "gg". Maybe you learned something, maybe you didn't... but you at least positively affected your rank, so you did get "something" out of victory. If you lost, don't complain about the circumstances-- try to learn from each loss so that you can gradually become a better player. You could even ask your opponent to point out any major mistakes you might have made. The veterans around here will usually point out your weaknesses if you respectfully ask. And remember, no one is an expert from the beginning-- it takes a number of losses to develop skill.

4) Politely resign when you've lost. It saves everyone time. But don't resign UNTIL YOU'VE LOST. On many occasions, I've seen players resign far too early just out of fear of their opponent's "reputation". Even the best of us lose. But not if you resign too early.

5) If you interact with someone who clearly disregards these simple rules, don't sink to their level. Each action impacts the community as a whole.

I played against someone in the ladder just before the "re-balancing". I got a really good rush draw, so I rushed his base. He (o she?) got really upset, and said that I was ruining the game by rushing his (her?) base and not letting the game get to something that involved more strategy. He (she?0 then disconnected.

I think its hillarious to watch people get butt hurt.

Thats one reason I grit my teeth and say gg.

Otherwise I see no problems with player conduct. People typicaly dont try to hard to rub wins in, I dont think ive ever experienced it and if I did Id probably think someone was joking around.
