Keyser is correct yet again. The power of the internet is great for finding answers to this stuff. To the stars on the wings of a pig.
To me, this expression speaks to the fact that the road to success is challenging, and never is a smooth journey. Somehow, by struggling onward and upward, one can achieve great things. Anywho, that is what it means to me.

Or you could take the pessimistic route:
You are saying that your goals can never ever be reached:
Pigs don't have wings, therefore it is utterly and completely impossible to fly to the stars on the wings of a pig, not to mention the fact that there is no air in space for the wings to push against. If you did find a way to get the pig to fly, both you and your beloved pig would die from asphyxiation. If you managed to overcome the breathing problem, you would have still have issues with being in a vacuum. The absence of ambient pressure would cause your blood to vaporize slowly, swelling your soft tissues until they exploded. Your ear drums and lungs would rupture. Of course, you probably wouldn't feel much of this, as you would be unconscious.
One could, of course, argue that there are ways around this. I suppose you could surgically implant wings to the pig, replace its insides with robotics so it would have the strength to fly to the stars and the capability to survive without oxygen. A spacesuit would help you stay alive for as long as your air supply lasts.
Given the length of the journey, you may want to bring a few hundred thousand good books to read and some anti-aging cream.
Or you could just learn the arcane magic of teleportation.
