As for reimbursement I say no. That it was done in the past I think was a bad idea as it set a precendent that needs to be reversed. People should realize that any card that is overpowered may be subject to change and price it accordingly.

I agree, but the fact is a precedent has been made. And the game could really lose players if he did not reimbursed.
I think it should go both ways. If you have a card thats stronger, you have to pay Jed. :D

That said, game balance should take precedence. Even if everyone is to leave, you can be confident cos you are "Starting over" with a BETTER game, that when you 1st started.

So one way to compensate for non-default buildings being worse now is to increase the price of the default buildings the more you use them. Say first 4-5 are normal price and then after that they cost one more flux for the next 4-5, and then two more, etc.

I think the autodraw mechanic is great and it should not be changed. The game would be much weaker if basic buildings were all just there for the casting and the autodraw mechanic smooths out the randomness in a way that a skilled player can benefit from.

If it makes certain cards too powerful, then they are the problem and should be changed rather than a core mechanic of the game. For example, add 1 to the cost of a throne and it would still be the cheapest way to get another domain. Should thrones be cheaper than weathervanes? Generally I'd rather see my opponent with a weathervane on a domain building than a throne beside it even at the same cost.

100% agreed.

The funniest thing about people whining about losing collection value is that a lot of those people never even paid anything for the game.

I agree that the autodraw mechanic should stay.

I could also agree that people that haven't spent $$ on the game might not need reimbursement, but those that have spent money on the game -- well, it's a different story.

Let's say I go out and buy a 65" Panasonic WS HD true-black state-of-the-art TV for $5500. Let's say that Panasonic decides this is too good, so they send out ninjas in the middle of the night to replace every such TV that was purchased with 32" TV's. These 32" TVs sell on the market for $2000. Should I get a reimbursement from Panasonic for the difference?

Panasonic ninjas don't give refunds. They give beatdowns.

Very true.

That's why I specifically asked if Panasonic should give the refunds and not the P. Ninjas.

On a related note: Ninjas have difficulty giving me beat downs. I'm a Pirate. A Pirate with Ninja training.

Keyser:

You may be a pirate ninja, but have you ever been the Dread Pirate Roberts??? I have, and it was sweEt! This is what I will say to you if you join me: "Good night, Keyser. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning." The purpose is to build your character.

To answer your question, you should not get a refund if ninjas can sneak into your house, steal a BIG tv, and then escape into the murky night. Don't let yourself be noobized sir!

That's a really bad analogy as your 65" Panasonic doesn't beat up your neighbors 32" and make it less fun for him (well, maybe it does, but not directly). Perhaps more importantly, you bought the TV directly from Panasonic for a specific price...you didn't get it randomly from a grab-bag or buy it from a 3rd party who got it randomly. Even more, it is a stand-alone product designed to play a specific role, not a part of a collectible, competitive game.

What if Panasonic releases a new 72" for $2000? Should they reimburse you? In game terms that would be called power-creep which is very bad for games long-term, but is one way some games attempt to rebalance without changing older cards/units. In some ways it has the same effect as weakening the older card.

A better comparison: What if I'm playing Magic and I just bought 4x Mind Twist then WotC decides to ban them from tournament play? Or what about my Mana Surges which were made useless by the change to mana burn rules? Should they reimburse me?

The larger precedent is banning/restricting and cards becoming useless when rules change. Fortunately there is a better option with on-line games.

The reimbursement debate has become HIGH LARIOUS.

I stick to my original comments. If you own overpowered cards, you've been (theoretically) benefiting from the imbalance for some time now, and you don't deserve additional rewards.

If you've had them for months and months, perhaps.. but what about the dude who saved up gold earned from hours and hours of playing EC's to buy a Fissure only to find the card nerfed a week later and loses half it's value?

Or the person that decided to spend $ to buy a card planning on using it for a few months, only to find out that he could have bought a lesser version of the card a week later for half the price?

Things to consider.....

... may wise me make such decisions :-)
