Now that I have your attention with my ridiculous title.... this thread is to hear your ideas on ways to help us keep new players around.

Stickify (v) : to make stickier

All games have players that come to check them out, stay around for a while, and then leave. We want to reduce the number of those that leave, increase the number of those that stick around.

What are your thoughts?

Personally, I really like the idea of a campaign, a "quest" of sorts -- I'd like to start with one domain, probably Sylvan, and tell a storyline that takes place over 5 to 10 preset maps against the AI. I envision the first chapter in the quest as something like this:

For centuries, your people have been at peace with the world within their forest boundaries, living in harmony with and within the nature that is their home, their sustenance, and their mother. Such peace is at an end. Forces of death, destruction, and decay have crossed into the boundaries of your ancient forest home. You must stand up to the threat, protect your homeland, and drive back the Dark Legion

This match would be played with the default Sylvan army against the AI DL on a map that is preset to be 70% forest, where you start with several seedlings and tree ents already in play.

Several more chapters would follow, getting progressively harder, and then we'd get to the last battle:

You've driven back the Dark Legion, protected your homeland, and fought with honor. Your status as Protector of the Green was well deserved. You must make sure that this threat is unable to attack your homestead ever again. It's time to take the battle to the enemy. Lead your forest army on an attack of the darkest regions of the Far Wilds.

This last battle would be fought on a map with no more than 5 forest hexes, and the enemy army would already have a couple Red Imps, Hell Cats, and two Graveyards in play. It would be an extremely hard battle to win.

Good idea :)
Now, when you've mastered the easiest domain in Wilds, lets have a look on some more interesting ones ...

I think even the cards the player draws might be given, not random (I know draw screws very well)..

PS I can't see a way to win the game you've mentioned up there without really good deck (which default isn't) - or without the enemy being played by current browser AI..

Precisely... I was wondering if someone would notice that. If we make the last game hard enough that it can't be beaten, that brings it's way to the next storyline... DL fighting back against the oppressive Sylvan, also bringing in the Mountain Folk..

The first quest could end after the player has tried to beat the final chapter of the first quest four times and failed. Then they are in Book 2: Dark Legion's Revenge

I've also been suggesting campaign mode as the best way to retain new players. I support this endeavor OVER 9000%, and I would love to help develop it if additional hands are needed. (as far as storyline, strategy obstacles to put into the maps, skills to progressively teach players, etc.)

I can't believe you are pretending to be interested in helping by only being willing to give "OVER 9000%" to the project! This is an outrage!*! You have clearly implied this serious matter is a joke, and decided to go on a virtual jihad against Keyser. Outrage! Hissssss! Boooo!

Good day!

Campaign mode would be a great idea. I don't know if you need to assign a domain. Let them choose one, then go through the campaign. But make it beatable. If someone can do a campaign in half hour to hour, then they would know basics of play and be curious.

I think a league for new players would be wonderful. I would have loved this when I first started playing! It seems a little daunting to ever really get into playing the game without spending serious money right away, even if you're fairly skilled.

Perhaps completing the campaign mode would earn you the rite to enter a league for new players??? That would be awesome (and then people would want to enter because, well, I earned it by beating the campaign, I have to play the league now).

i must say i really like this idea....I think a "Campaign" Mode is Exactly what this game needs. I cant think of a better way to get people interested either cause everyone loves a good story. Also Aarons idea isnt bad either.... :D
