yaron you are right taken doesn't trigger remove effects. The flash flood needs to be reworded.

I'm trying to figure out what such a rewording might look like.

Changing "removed" to "leaves play" will solve the current problem. However, any future card that neutralizes world enchantments (a-la Silver Stag) or morphs them into something else will still enable the combo.

Another option is rewording entirely, to "all spaces without a figure are oceans". This will solve the problem completely, because the enchantment would have to be in play (and active) for it to do anything. It will change the functionality of the enchantment in other ways, though (such as oceans appearing and disappearing when creatures move).

The best I can think of is:
"All spaces that didn't have a figure in them when Flash Flood was played are oceans."

this wording would enable a player to cast Flash Flood, take the flood with Loxlorn Globe, and redeploy flood at a later time with water potentially under Figures (e.g., construction sites).

given the effort required to sacrifice/destroy your own globe, this may be deemed acceptable; however, as yaron pointed out to me, this could become a more serious threat if another simpler way to take/replace your own world enchantment becomes available in the future.

Okay then, how about a spell (not an enchantment) that says:

"All land spaces without a figure become ocean until the end of the next turn."

I think this has the same effect as Flash Flood, but prevents all shenanigans.
It also prevents premature removal by the opponent, though. I don't know how often people actually do that.

I think changing it to "leaves play" would work fine. Seems to me that requiring a fourth (theoretical) card to make the combo work would render it difficult enough that it wouldn't be a problem for competitive play. Even when it was just Flood/Lox/Reef, the combo seemed pretty hit-or-miss as far as win % went.

The hypothetical fourth card would replace Loxlorn Globe in the combo, so it would still be a 3-card combo.

Just changing Flash Flood from "removed" to "leaves play" will commit the designers to avoid any (playable) card that morphs or neutralizes world enchantments.

Yaron: Spells can only have an immediate effect so something like: "All land spaces without a figure become ocean until the end of the next turn." would have to be an enchantment since it has effects after it is cast. The reasoning being that you should be able to tell what is going on in the game by looking at it. If spells had effects after they were cast you couldn't do this.

Anyway I think some combo where you take and replace flash flood wouldn't be that over powered and sounds kind of cool.

I've been trying to figure out HOW you could make it work with Stablizer. There's no way I can come up with. If Stabalizer has no tokens on it, Flood doesn't turn the world to ocean, but it also doesn't lose lifespan. As soon as you turn the Stabalizer off, the world floods, and the lifespan kicks into effect at the end of the turn. There isn't a way to reset the lifespan.

So the flood dies.

Anyone see something I don't?
